Check out the June issue of Grappling Magazine (it'll hit the newsstands
on May 1, 2005). There's an interview of the ol' coach (me) called "A GRAPPLER'S EDGE"
where I'm asked about my competitive career, my instructors, the Schultz
brothers, grappling, pankration and my plans for the future.
There's also an interview with one of my coaches called "The Ultimate
Producer". Willy tells about his father's start in Kodenkan Jiu-Jitsu (training with Professor Okazaki back in 1937), his
family's move from Hawaii to California, his illness as a child, his inheritance of the Cahill's Academy when his father passed away, how he
sees the future of American Judo, and some of his secrets that helped him produce over 900 National and International Champions. There's a
great old picture of the Cahill's team from around 1970 (boy were they tough), and a couple of neat pictures of Willy and his kids Curtis and
Karin (I used to compete against Curtis, and I still have a crush on Karin).
And... There's an article written by me about the "2004 Pancrase USA
North American Submission Wrestling Championships". This is just a short
(2 page) article, but it will be followed up in the July issue with an article on the 2005 Pancrase tournament (which will be pretty big). This
article has a brief description of the Men's Advanced Finals, but it has
some pictures from the Pancrase archives including: Nick Marr, Amal Easton, Nobuo
Yagai, Elliot Marshall, Brock Jensen, Scott Marshall,
Alberto Crane, Eric Koble, Erwin Lopez and the 2004 Grappler's Edge
Team. Anyway....Check out Grappling Magazine!
